He is considered to be the forefather of fabulism, predating writers such as Gabriel Garc?a M?rquez, Italo Calvino and Julio Cort?zar, who all note Hern?ndez as a major influence.Īll of his short stories have an amazing atmosphere, built on sadness and memory.
His work were previouse than the Latin American Boom, and so, many writers from these called "movement" recognize him as influence of his writings. He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1902 and died in 1964. I'll starting to say that Felisberto Hern?ndez is one of the best short story writers from the XX century, and at the same time one of the most forgotten one.
